Melanda Notwitch is forced to spend every day doing horrible chores for her three rotten aunts. She hardly ever gets to go out, she doesn’t have any friends and she has to sleep in a baby’s cot because her aunts won’t buy her a bed. Basically, her life is absolutely rubbish. That is until a young witch named Mitch shows up on her doorstep, offering a chance of freedom.
Together with Rolo, Mitch’s sort-of-talking cat, the two girls embark upon an incredible quest to cast the one witchy spell that will (hopefully) change Melanda’s life forever. All they need to do is find one very special magic ingredient. How hard can it be?
A magical, big-hearted and deeply silly adventure story, wonderfully illustrated by Dotty Sutton.

THE SCHOOL LIBRARIAN MAGAZINE

Hello, you!
Hi! I’m Gary. That’s me over there on the left. I’m a writer, scribbler and constant doodler based in Perth. (That’s the Perth in Scotland. Not the one in Australia. Or the one in Canada.)
I’ve been a writer for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I wrote stories about dinosaurs and hedgehogs and a footballer called Chris Mas who only ever scored goals at Christmas time (I was particularly proud of that one). As an adult, I’ve been lucky enough to write books for some very cool children’s brands such as Hey Duggee and Bluey.
The Notwitches is my first children’s novel. I’m ridiculously proud of it and I hope it makes you laugh. And possibly cry. But mainly laugh.
